The set is all finished and looking happy. These are lovely chairs to work with but boy do they take some effort. I worked it out that each chair probably took nearly 5 hours to restore. They really have to be a labor of love or you just wouldn't do it. I think all restorers have to be a little crazy, either that or it's all the fumes & sawdust.
Friday 15th November
These Jon Jansen knife back chairs have been tucked away for ages waiting for a matching table to come on the marker and finally the other day I spied one. As I wait for the table to arrive from down south I got the chairs out of storage.
I knew they were going to need the full work up. Old covers need to be removed as does the tired coating. Joints need to be reset and the seats assessed. As usual though the bones are there they just need a lot of love to make them shine.
