Just finished the fler SC58's. Newly dressed in James Dunlop Vanuatu:pepper they are super sleek.
The frames came up beautifully. With much delicate sanding they are glowing & the rich red mahogany grain is stunning. They may take longer than the average chair but they are more than worth it. Even as I'm sanding and my arms feel like they are about to fall off you can't help but get lost in the fine delicate lines that Lowen created.
A couple of loose joints have been reset and they are ready to have the cleaned metal frames reinstalled. New foam has been sourced and now it's just a matter of choosing fabric for the upholstery.

I got these ages ago and finally they have reached the top of the 'to do' list. The SC58's are one of the iconic designs from Fred Lowen for Fler. They never fail to impress in their simplicity and comfort. The bones in these are great but they need a full rework. All the old coating has to be removed which is a slow business so as not to change the delicate lines. They are going to need to have their joints reset then all new spring covers foam and upholstery. It's going to be a few days work before these little beauties start feeling like themselves again.
